THE SPEAKER OF THE MAZHILIS NOTED THE MAIN COMPONENTS OF ECONOMIC INTERACTION BETWEEN THE COUNTRIES OF EAEC AND CHINA

Astana, October 6, the House of the Mazhilis. During his speech at the international forum “Eurasian Economic Perspective”, referring to the points of contact between the EAEC and the Chinese initiative “Economic belt of the Silk Road”, the President of the Mazhilis Kabibulla Dzhakupov noted three main components, which, in his opinion, will be the basic foundation of economic cooperation.

First of all, this is the development of transport infrastructure and its integration into the international transport-communication corridors.

- Kazakhstan today is ready to become an important link in the transport and transit line connecting the markets of China, Europe, the Middle East and South Asia. To this end, the Plan for infrastructure development of the country “Nurly Zhol” is implemented, - said K.Dzhakupov.

In order to consolidate transport and infrastructure capacity of the country the Chairman of the Mazhilis suggested to prepare the Program on transport and communication interaction between the EAEC members-states and China.

Another important component, according to K.Dzhakupov, would be the adoption of a package of measures to strengthen the trade and economic, industrial and investment cooperation among the EAEC and China.

In this regard, according to the Speaker of the Mazhilis, the Eurasian Commission together with the branch ministries of the members-states could prepare a Program of industrial development of the EAEC in the light of cooperation with China.

- To do this, we could use not only the financial resources of our countries, as well as of the Eurasian Development Bank, Asian Bank of infrastructure investments and the Silk Road Fund and other international financial institutions, - said K.Dzhakupov.

The third important component of the Chairman of the Mazhilis called the sphere of innovation and technology.

As noted by K.Dzhakupov it is required to study the issue of cooperation of research institutions and universities.

- Today, China is one of the world centers of innovative technologies development. Annually China spends more than $ 200 billion USD for research and development work. By the way, students of “Nazarbayev University”, within the walls of which the Chinese President Xi Jinping voiced the initiative to establish the Economic Belt of the Silk Road in 2013, could study the experience and cooperate with leading universities and research centers of Russia and China in areas of innovation development, - said K.Dzhakupov.

According to the Speaker of the Mazhilis, it is also important to create opportunities for the use of resource-saving, alternative and renewable energy sources.

- Exchange of technologies, innovations within the EAEC, and the project of the Economic Belt of the Silk Road will have a strong impact on industrial development and in the whole improvement of the competitiveness of the economies of the members-states, - expressed the confidence K.Dzhakupov.

According to the Speaker of the Mazhilis, profile ministries of Members-States could prepare the Concept of innovation cooperation between the EAEC members-states and China.
