Journalists were congratulated on their professional holiday in Mazhilis House

Astana, June 27, Mazhilis House. The Chairman of Mazhilis Nurlan Nigmatulin congratulated the parliamentary journalists with the Day of communication and information workers. This year, the lawmakers decided to exceptionally congratulate the media personnel on occasion of their professional holyday.

The journalists were invited to temporarily have the deputies’ seats in the Mazhilis session hall. In addressing the media personnel, Mr. Nurlan Nigmatulin noted that a deputy and a journalist have something in common, namely, their efforts are made in favour and to the good of citizens of our country.

In his speech, the Chairman of Mazhilis placed emphasis on a special role the media plays in covering the most important events within the Independent Kazakhstan. Also, Mr N.Nigmatulin informed the journalists on the following resolution passed by the Bureau of Mazhilis: starting the next session, the journalists will be awarded special prises for the best coverage of Mazhilis’ legislative activity. Prises are supposed to be in three nominations for the best coverage on TV, on paper, on radio, and on the Internet in the State language and in the Russian language. The awarding commission will be headed by the Mazhilis’ deputy Kuanysh Sultanov and will include deputies of Mazhilis, prominent public people, representatives of political parties and non-government organizations. In conclusion Mr N.Nigmatulin expressed confidence that the mass media will further contribute to the development of a dialogue between the deputies and the public. The Chairman of Mazhilis also assured the journalists that the Mazhilis will be open both for the society and for mass media representatives.
