The statement by the Chairman of Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr Nurlan Nigmatulin  in connection with the election of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Security Council.

Astana, June 29, Mazhilis House.  “The election of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Security Council is an evidence of recognition of Kazakhstan’s international achievements and, first of all, of its Leader Mr Nursultan Nazarbayev”. This was declared by the Chairman of Mazhilis  Mr Nurlan Nigmatulin with regard to the election of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Security Council as its nonpermanent member from the Asia-Pacific group of countries following the results of voting. Mr Nurlan Nigmatulin emphasized that the invaluable contribution that the President of Kazakhstan had made to the strengthening of regional and global security, the  achieving of nuclear disarmament and the ensuring of a civilizational dialogue stipulated the next significant victory of our country on the global stage. “Today, the whole world admires the impressed achievements that Kazakhstan has gained over 25 years of its independent development under the guidance of its national Leader in developing the sustainable market economy, in pursuing the fair social policy, and in forming the democratic political system”, said  the Chairman of Mazhilis  Mr Nurlan Nigmatulin. It is commonly known that the Kazakhstan’s candidature was maintained by 138 countries out of 193 UN member states that participated in voting. Kazakhstan was the first out of the Central Asia states to be elected to this most significant political UN organ that is entitled by the UN status to maintain the global peace and security. The election of the new five nonpermanent members to the United Nations Security Council took place in the United Nations General Assembly. Kazakhstan became a nonpermanent member of this organization for the period of 2017-2018 years.
