Astana, September 14, House of Mazhilis. Today the Chairman of the Mazhilis Nurlan Nigmatulin has conducted meeting with Claire Schouten, expert of the International Budget Partnership.

N.Nigmatulin emphasized the practical interest of cooperation with this credible organization, which is, by the opinion of the Speaker of Mazhilis, the sole independent and objective measurer of the budget transparency and accountability.    

- The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev set the task before the Government and the Parliament to ensure strict control of the budgetary funds development and to provide maximum transparency of legislative activity of the Parliament for the population, - the Chairman of the Mazhilis emphasized.

N. Nigmatulin has told on the new practice of consideration of the draft laws in the Mazhilis which meets the principles of transparency and increased accessibility of public participation in discussion.

In turn, C.Schouten, having noted the dynamics of growth of Kazakhstan on the budget transparency index, highly appreciated the increase of transparency of work of Kazakh MPs.

Speaking about the work of deputies on financial draft laws, the Speaker of Mazhilis noted that the House now starts to work on the draft law on the republican budget for 2017-2019. According to N. Nigmatulin, the policy of our country is aimed at providing transparency and control over the activities of state bodies, including the budget process.

The Chairman of the Mazhilis invited the experts of the International Budget Partnership to join the work of the deputy corps, having noted their great experience of working with civil sector on efficient use of budgetary funds and ensuring sustainable development of the country.
