Astana, June 20, House of Mazhilis. Today the Chairman of the Mazhilis Nurlan Nigmatulin welcomed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan Kim Dae-sik.

Topical issues of bilateral relations, including inter-parliamentary cooperation, were discussed.

Stressing that Korea is one of Kazakhstan's key strategic partners in East Asia, the Chairman of the Mazhilis noted the active nature of bilateral political interaction. According to N.Nigmatulin, new perspectives of the strategic partnership were opened by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to Seoul in November 2016.

In turn, Korean diplomat, emphasizing the effectiveness of the policy of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, aimed at the development of the country, expressed gratitude to the Head of our state for attention to Korean diaspora.

The relevance of EXPO-2017 theme in Astana, as well as innovative capabilities of South Korea, including in production, conservation and use of electricity, renewable energy sources and “green energy”, were also noted.

Speaking about the great interest of the Korean Government to the International exhibition in Astana, Kim Dae-sik expressed confidence in its success.

Concerning the international agenda, special attention was focused on strengthening the nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime.

The parties expressed their opinions for the strengthening of contacts between the parliamentarians of two countries, underlying the effective interaction within the framework of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
