Astana, May 24, Mazhilis House. The Mazhilis hosted a meeting of deputies chaired by Vice-Speaker of the House Albert Rau with a delegation of the inter-parliamentary friendship group "Georgia-Kazakhstan", which is now on a visit to Astana. The parliamentarians discussed the development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
Georgia is an important political and economic partner of Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus, Albert Rau noted. Cooperation between the countries is consistently developing in these and other areas. Last year Kazakh-Georgian diplomatic relations turned 30 years old.
“We have an extensive agenda of bilateral cooperation, we work closely within the framework of international organizations. This is based on a close political dialogue, multifaceted economic ties, as well as common pages of history,” the Deputy Chairman of the Mazhilis said.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed issues of developing partnerships between the countries in the field of transit and logistics. Albert Rau noted the need to develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, thanks to which Kazakhstan and Georgia will play a key role in ensuring transit between Europe and Asia.
The discussion also touched upon economic, tourism, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. As a result, the parties agreed to develop and strengthen bilateral relations, including in the direction of inter-parliamentary friendship groups.
