Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting on the preparation and holding of the international conference “Religions against Terrorism.”
The event is to be held in Astana on the eve of the 15th meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions on May 31, 2016. Parliamentarians, representatives of world and traditional religions, as well as experts are expected to participate in the forum.
Deputy Chairman of the Senate Askar Beisenbayev, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Security Ikram Adyrbekov, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the International Center of Cultures and Religions, and other agencies and departments attended the meeting.
According to the Speaker of the Senate, the importance of the conference “Religion against Terrorism” is evident given the tumultuous time we live in. The forum will become a new stage in the dialogue of political and religious leaders, initiated by President Nursultan Nazarbayev in the framework of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Tokayev drew attention to the need for careful consideration of conceptual and organizational issues of the conference.
