Astana, November 2, House of the Mazhilis. Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, as part of his official visit to Kazakhstan, met with Chairman of the Mazhilis Erlan Koshanov.
Welcoming the guest, the Speaker of the Mazhilis noted that the Kazakh and Hungarian peoples have close historical ties and common roots.
The Chairman of the Mazhilis noted that bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Hungary have reached the level of strategic partnership thanks to regular meetings between the President of Kazakhstan and the Prime Minister of Hungary.
He informed the head of the Hungarian Government about large-scale reforms and the reboot of the country's political system, stressing that within the framework of the new economic policy of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, it is planned to double the volume of the national economy by 2029.
Erlan Koshanov also said that within the framework of the formula «strong President - influential Parliament - accountable Government», the role and status of Parliament has been strengthened. The current convocation has become the most multi-party in the history of Kazakhstan. The Mazhilis became a reflection of different political views and forces. The presence of women, persons with special needs and youth has increased.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of parliamentary diplomacy through friendship groups and at multilateral platforms.
– We often meet with Hungarian colleagues at various international forums, including at events of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States. A year ago, Deputy Chairman of the State Assembly of Hungary Sandor Lezsak visited Kazakhstan. We had a meaningful conversation within the walls of the Mazhilis, – said Erlan Koshanov.
