Astana, 17 November, Mazhilis. Today in the Parliament, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of Mazhilis of the Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary George Krol.

In the conversation between the parliamentarian and the diplomat, the parties discussed the issues related to bilateral relations, which over recent years, as noted, have been dynamically developing, including in combating extremism and terrorism.

The conversation about the recent presidential elections in the US highlighted the immutability of relations in bilateral links, long-standing priorities, and continuity of policy. The parties have expressed confidence not only in maintaining the level achieved, but in enhancing cooperation.

Particular emphasis has been made on the activity of Kazakhstan as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council starting from the New Year, which, as pointed out, is also connected with strengthening cooperation in Central Asia, stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan, and promoting peace and security.

Speaking about the 25^th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan, the Ambassador noted that within this period the country has achieved a lot, especially in the field of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. The diplomat also stressed the importance of the upcoming EXPO 2017, at which the United States will be presented as well.

Noting the similarity of the interests, the parties emphasized the importance of partnership, broadening cooperation in all the aspects of the international agenda, including the interparliamentary relations.
