Astana, November 28, House of the Mazhilis. At the International Conference “25 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Outcomes. Accomplishments. Vision for Future”, the Chairman of the Mazhilis Nurlan Nigmatulin told about the role of the Leader of the Nation in the formation of the Kazakhstan’s parliamentary system.

According to the Speaker of the Mazhilis, corresponding to the global universal model the Parliament of modern Kazakhstan has unique features associated with national traditions, legal culture, social pattern, mentality and way of life of Kazakhstan`s citizens.

- The main factor that had a critical importance in the formation of the Kazakhstan`s parliamentary system was the figure of the First President, who is the main initiator of all democratic transformations. That is why Nursultan Nazarbayev can be considered with good reasons as the founder of Kazakhstan`s model of the parliamentary system, - underlined N. Nigmatulin.

At the same time, the Chairman of the Mazhilis noted that many significant events of the Independent Kazakhstan took place exactly within the walls of the Parliament of the country. Among them - the decision to move the capital of Kazakhstan, the idea of Eurasian integration suggested by the President in 1994 and realized practically through the formation of the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union.

- In the current year, Kazakhstan is chairing in the EEU. In this regard, on the initiative of the Head of our State, 2016 was declared as the “Year of deepening economic relations of the Eurasian Economic Union with third countries and key integration associations”. Integration potential of the Eurasian Economic Union, the extension of cooperation with the European Union and the implementation of the project "The economic belt of the Great Silk Road" together with China will undoubtedly strengthen Kazakhstan's position as an important business partner and a hub in Eurasia, - said N. Nigmatulin.
